Fascinated by the beautiful mizuhiki used to decorate betrothal gifts, I learned the art of mizuhiki and began my career as a mizuhiki artist under the name ‘Kimusubi.’ I have held exhibitions throughout Japan and am actively involved in international cultural exchanges, promoting Japanese culture and mizuhiki abroad. In addition to exhibitions, I also take on corporate orders and perform demonstrations.
I encountered mizuhiki in Kanazawa. After studying and teaching mizuhiki for several years, I founded the Modern Mizuhiki Association. I established a qualification system, trained mizuhiki ambassadors, and launched the mizuhiki brand ‘Wa-Style.’ Currently, I offer mizuhiki classes for individuals and corporations, propose mizuhiki designs, and sell mizuhiki products.
After living in New Delhi, India for four years, I returned to Japan and began creating mizuhiki accessories to complement my beloved kimonos. Currently, I work under the artist name ‘musubi_tokyo,’ holding mizuhiki classes, creating seasonal mizuhiki decorations, and exhibiting and selling them at galleries and department stores. I also sell mizuhiki materials dyed with seasonal plants and conduct workshops.
